Why a greeting is worth learning

Opening a chat in someone's own language takes ten seconds and changes the mood. You don't have to be fluent. One greeting, pronounced with a bit of effort, tells the other person you noticed where they come from and cared enough to try.

How to read the pronunciation

The text under each greeting is a rough guide written with English-style spelling. Capital letters mark the part of the word you stress. It won't be perfect, and that is fine. Native speakers are almost always delighted by the attempt.

The Listen button uses your device's own speech voice. It works best for widely spoken languages, and on some devices a language may simply stay silent if no voice is installed for it.

A small warning about formality

Many languages have a casual hello and a more polite one. The greetings here are the everyday ones you would use with someone your own age. If you are writing to an older person, or in a formal setting, a more respectful form may be better.
